Komodo National Park fees and rules for 2026/27: what a boat guest pays and must follow
Updated 23 October 2026
Foreign visitors pay IDR 250,000 per person per day for the park ticket under PP 36/2024, and Indonesians IDR 50,000 on weekdays or IDR 75,000 on weekends and holidays. The ticket is never inside a Bombana fare. It is booked online by name, against a daily visitor quota that tightened in September 2026.
What the park ticket costs
The rate sits in Government Regulation 36 of 2024, which took effect on 30 October 2024 and replaced the 2014 regulation. ANTARA reported the new figures on 26 October 2024, after a briefing by the park authority, BTNK. They have not changed since.
A foreign visitor pays IDR 250,000 per person per day, weekends included. An Indonesian visitor pays IDR 50,000 on a weekday and IDR 75,000 on weekends and public holidays. One ticket covers walking, wildlife viewing and snorkelling. The old separate snorkelling ticket went in 2024, so any price list that still adds a snorkelling line is out of date.
Divers pay a small extra charge per dive, set in the same regulation and reported by CNN Indonesia on 30 October 2024. A drone needs a permit and its own daily fee. Neither applies to a trip of snorkelling and walks.
The figures above are those the park authority gave to the press. The park's own notice is final.
| Guests | Days | International | Indonesian | Indonesian · weekends & holidays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1 | IDR 500,000 | IDR 100,000 | IDR 150,000 |
| 2 | 2 | IDR 1,000,000 | IDR 200,000 | IDR 300,000 |
| 2 | 3 | IDR 1,500,000 | IDR 300,000 | IDR 450,000 |
| 4 | 1 | IDR 1,000,000 | IDR 200,000 | IDR 300,000 |
| 4 | 2 | IDR 2,000,000 | IDR 400,000 | IDR 600,000 |
| 4 | 3 | IDR 3,000,000 | IDR 600,000 | IDR 900,000 |
| 10 | 1 | IDR 2,500,000 | IDR 500,000 | IDR 750,000 |
| 10 | 2 | IDR 5,000,000 | IDR 1,000,000 | IDR 1,500,000 |
| 10 | 3 | IDR 7,500,000 | IDR 1,500,000 | IDR 2,250,000 |
Entry fee only (PP 36/2024). Ranger and pier levies are extra; weekend domestic rate applies on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Verified 10 October 2026.
The charges that are not the ticket
Three other costs get mixed into trip prices, and it helps to pull them apart.
The first is the ranger. Walking on Komodo, Rinca and Padar is done with a park ranger, and the fee is charged per group, not per person. Typical ranger fees run from about 120,000 to 200,000 rupiah per group of up to five, depending on the island.
The second is the boat's own levy. ANTARA's 2024 report said the vessel tariff did not rise, and the entry fee for a boat is based on its engine size. The boat company pays it, not the passenger.
The third is a small harbour or regional charge at Labuan Bajo. It is quoted at around 25,000 rupiah per person. Ask your booking team whether it is already in your price.
Some price lists show a park line far above the official daily ticket, such as 600,000 rupiah per foreign guest for three days. Such a line bundles other charges. Go with the regulation.
Quotas, tickets and the SiOra system
Since 1 April 2026 the park has capped entry at 1,000 visitors a day, according to ANTARA on 14 April. The cap covers Padar, Rinca, Komodo and nearby dive sites. The annual limit is 365,000 visitors, a figure the Forestry Ministry called reviewable on 25 April.
Then the year ran out of room. CNN Indonesia reported on 29 September that the 2026 annual quota had been used up since August. The park authority set a lower limit of 500 visitors per day from September to December 2026, in a notice signed on 22 September. It also said some people turn up before the date on their ticket, which uses the quota faster. That cuts both ways for you: the date on the ticket is the date you go.
Tickets are bought through the park's online system, SiOra. ANTARA reported on 31 October 2025 that payment is non-cash and every purchase goes through the app, and that patrols had caught intermediaries who collected money and did not pass it on. Each visitor is registered by name and passport or ID number. Check that the e-ticket in your name exists. A WhatsApp promise is not a ticket.
Entering without a ticket can bring a penalty of five times the tariff, CNN Indonesia reported.
The sailing clearance
Separate from the park, the harbour office at Labuan Bajo, KSOP, must issue a sailing clearance, called an SPB, before a boat leaves. Weather is one reason it can be withheld. On 6 August 2026 detikBali reported that KSOP again stopped clearances to Komodo and Padar until 8 August and allowed only Rinca, after a forecast of winds up to 24 knots and waves up to 2.4 metres.
When that happens, your boat stays in port or goes where the clearance allows. That's the system doing its job, not the trip going wrong. The order of stops on our trips can change for exactly this reason.
A closure can be brief. The Komodo and Padar closure of 27 to 30 July reopened on 31 July, detikBali noted, though trips there opened and closed repeatedly through July. Think of the park's quota and the harbour's clearance as two gates. A boat has to pass both.
What a Bombana fare covers and what it leaves out
The park ticket is never part of a Bombana fare, on either boat, open trip or private charter. It's always paid on top.
On an open trip, a Bombana fare covers the city-area transfer both ways, meals, the guide, a snorkel mask and documentation of the trip. On a private charter the fare covers the city-area transfer, meals and the mask. The guide and documentation are not included there. We quote them separately on request.
Flights, hotels before and after the sailing, crew tips and the park ticket stay with you. So is a drone fee, if you bring one.
So the arithmetic for a foreign guest is the fare plus IDR 250,000 for each day the ticket is needed. We confirm how many ticket days a three-day route needs for your dates. Ask the booking team how the ticket is arranged for your sailing before you pay the deposit.
What this means for your dates
Book early and fix the date. With 500 visitors a day allowed until the end of December 2026, a popular Monday or Friday departure can compete with other boats for the same quota.
Send passport details when you book, because SiOra needs them. If the harbour closes an island on the day, expect the order to change.
For 2027 no fee or quota is announced. A foreign-visitor increase was reported as under study in April 2026. On 6 August ANTARA also reported that the park now keeps its own revenue as a public service agency, with no fee change announced. If a new tariff comes out before you pay your balance, we'll tell you first, and you can cancel without charge. See the park fees page for the current figures, and compare Bombana 1 and Bombana 2 or look at charter prices once your group size is clear.
