Nine stops, two nights, one route

Bombana 1 and Bombana 2 sail the same route. Both leave on Monday & Friday, and the next open date is Friday, 6 November 2026. That's 3 days, 2 nights and nine stops, from a hill on Kelor to a last snorkel on the morning of day 3.

The table below is the itinerary, step by step. It gives the order and the meals: 7 in all, with breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 2 and fewer on the two shorter days. There are no clock times beyond the 10:00 meeting point on day 1 and a return around midday on day 3.

Weather and the captain decide the route on the day, as on any boat in the park.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.

Day 1: one hill, one snorkel, one sunset

Day 1 is the easy one. You're at the Labuan Bajo meeting point by 10:00, with pickup from hotel or airport inside the city area.

It's about an hour out to Kelor for a short steep climb of 15 to 30 minutes with a view over the bay. Wear shoes with grip. Lunch is served on board.

Manjarite is the first snorkel. Your guide sets the time in the water, and nobody expects a performance. Masks are provided on both boats, so you can arrive with nothing but swimwear.

The day ends at Kalong. The flying foxes leave the mangroves about 15 minutes after sunset, and you watch from the boat, not from land. Then dinner, and a quiet evening. Where the boat spends the night is the weather and the captain's decision that day.

Day 2: from the Padar ridge to Manta Point

Day 2 is the long one, and the reason most people come. It opens at Padar before sunrise. Guests leave the boat about 65 minutes ahead of it, and the climb takes 25 to 45 minutes. Sunrise falls at 05:31 in November and 06:18 in July.

After breakfast comes Pink Beach for a swim. Lunch, then Komodo Island and a walk with a park ranger to look for the dragons. We can't promise a sighting. They're wild animals, and the rangers go where the animals are that day.

The afternoon holds Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Tide and current decide which comes first, so the printed order can swap. After dinner, most people are asleep early.

Day 3: Siaba or Sebayur, then home by midday

Day 3 is the soft landing. Breakfast, then the boat heads for Siaba or Sebayur. Ask us which island you get on your date. At either island there's a last snorkel, and Sebayur has its own page here.

Then back to Labuan Bajo, with a last lunch on the way. You're in around midday, so book flights home for after 13:00.

If your plane leaves soon after 13:00, say so when you message us and we'll check that date.

Fare, extras and the 3-day budget

Open-trip fares are per person. Bombana 1 starts at IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) and Bombana 2 at IDR 4,250,000 (≈ USD 261), depending on the cabin, and the cabins page has every cabin fare. The fare buys the city-area transfer at both ends, 7 meals plus snacks and drinks, a guide, a snorkel mask and trip documentation, and a bed in a sharing cabin or a private cabin for two or more guests.

It leaves out the park ticket, at IDR 250,000 per person per day for international visitors, plus flights, hotel nights, tips and insurance. Ranger and pier levies are quoted before you travel.

The whole boat for the same 3 days costs IDR 39,000,000 (≈ USD 2,393) on Bombana 1 for up to 8 guests, or IDR 55,750,000 (≈ USD 3,420) on Bombana 2 for up to 4.

Three days, or a fourth on the water

For most first visits, three days is enough. It covers every big name in the park, and the open trip runs exactly this route. Two days drops Manta Point and the whole of day 3.

Four days means more time in the water and less rush. Either can be the right call.

The 4-day, 3-night route is a private charter, not an open trip, and it adds Gili Lawa, Kanawa and Rangko Cave. For a group with time to spare, it's the better version. See the 4-day charter or the 2-day charter.

If you can't decide, the guide on whether three days is worth it lays out who should skip it. Then look at the dates, and ask us about a cabin.

FAQ

Which nine stops are on the Monday and Friday route?

Day 1 holds Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong. Day 2 holds Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day 3 holds Siaba or Sebayur. That's nine stops in 3 days on both Bombana 1 and Bombana 2, and weather can change the order.

What time must I be at the meeting point on day 1?

By 10:00. Pickup from a hotel or the airport inside the Labuan Bajo city area is included. Menjaga, Melo and Rangko are charged extra. A guest who arrives late arranges their own taxi boat at their own cost, so land the day before.

Which day of the 3-day route is the hardest?

Day 2. It packs in a Padar climb of 25 to 45 minutes before sunrise, a ranger-led walk on Komodo and two snorkels, with 3 meals in between. Day 1 and day 3 are lighter. If you don't enjoy early starts, tell us before you book.

Are snacks and drinks part of the open trip fare?

Yes. The fare covers 7 meals across the 3 days plus snacks and drinks on board. It doesn't cover the park ticket, flights, hotel nights, tips or insurance. Ask us about special diets on your date, as we don't promise a menu here.

What happens if bad weather changes the route?

The itinerary is tentative and weather comes first, so a stop can move or be swapped. If a boat can't sail at all, we offer an equal or higher class phinisi on the same date at no extra cost, or a full refund within 14 days.

When does the trip end, and when can I fly home?

The boat is back in Labuan Bajo around midday on day 3, after a last lunch on the way in. Book flights home after 13:00, and if you have a tighter connection or a long onward journey, message us with the date first.
