Bombana Sailing Komodo
What a Komodo sailing trip costs, line by line
Updated 23 October 2026
A Komodo sailing trip on Bombana 1 or Bombana 2 costs from IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) per person for 3 days and 2 nights on the open trip. The park ticket, flights and hotel nights come on top, and a whole boat of 15 on Bombana 1 works out at IDR 3,000,000 (≈ USD 184) a head.
The lowest fare
The lowest open-trip fare is IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) per person. It buys a bed in Sharing Cabin 4 on Bombana 1: four single beds, a private bathroom, shared with other guests. The trip is 3 days and 2 nights and leaves on Monday & Friday.
On Bombana 2 the lowest fare is IDR 4,250,000 (≈ USD 261), for a bed in the main-deck sharing cabin with an ensuite bathroom, air conditioning and a water heater. Private cabins cost more. Bombana 1's private cabin is IDR 3,600,000 (≈ USD 221), and Bombana 2's master cabin with the bathtub is IDR 6,950,000 (≈ USD 426).
We can't give you one price for a Komodo trip, because the cabin, the boat and your group size all move it. That's why the sections below break it into lines.
Adding it up
Add these up in order. First the fare for your cabin. Then the park ticket, bought separately in your own name at IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day. Then flights to Labuan Bajo and home, and a hotel night before sailing, because arriving on the day is a risk.
Then tips for guide and crew, which are appreciated and never compulsory. Then travel insurance with medical cover. Last, cash for the islands, since there are no cash machines in the park.
The table shows park fees for 2, 4 and 10 guests across 1, 2 and 3 days. Find your group size and the number of park days we confirm for your route, and that is your park line. We don't add it to any fare.

Where your rupiah go
On the open trip the fare buys these:

It leaves out the park ticket, flights, hotel nights, crew tips, travel insurance and your own spending. Menjaga, Melo and Rangko pickups cost extra, and we quote them before adding anything. The table below shows the full list for each boat.

Seat or boat
Read the per-person table for your group size. A whole boat is priced for the boat, so the per-head figure drops as you add friends. Bombana 1 at 15 guests is IDR 3,000,000 (≈ USD 184) a head, set against IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) for the lowest open-trip bed. Bombana 2 at 13 guests is IDR 5,370,000 (≈ USD 329), set against IDR 4,250,000 (≈ USD 261).
Compare like with like. The open trip includes a guide and documentation. A private charter doesn't, and we quote both separately on request. The whole boat is yours, though, and the date is agreed with you.
Fewer than 8 on Bombana 1, or fewer than 5 on Bombana 2, and the open trip is the cheaper road.

Where saving stops
Some savings cost you. Fins are not provided, so bring your own. Masks are on board. The cheapest bed means sharing a cabin with other guests, and the water heater and air conditioning belong to Bombana 2's cabins.
Upgrades are plain to read. The step up to a private cabin is a bed for two, and the step to the master cabin buys the bathtub, the balcony and the king bed. Neither buys a faster boat.
A cheap seat sold by someone with no office, no NIB and no invoice is a risk, and the money lost is yours. We are PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, 1805260128363, in Labuan Bajo. Read the booking steps and the park fees, and compare the cabins on the cabins page.
FAQ
How do I pay, and does it cost extra?
Fares are in Indonesian rupiah. You can pay by bank transfer in rupiah, a card payment link, Wise, Revolut, PayPal, QRIS, Alipay or WeChat Pay through a payment partner. PayPal carries a 7.2 percent fee, and a card link shows any fee on the invoice.
Does the deposit count towards the fare?
Yes. A 50 percent deposit confirms the booking and is part of the fare, not an extra on top of it. The balance is due 30 days before departure, and a booking made inside that window pays in full at once.
Is VAT included in the fare?
The fares we print include 11 percent VAT under our standard policy. The park ticket is a separate government fee and isn't part of the fare, and ranger and pier levies are separate as well. The cabin table shows which fare matches which cabin.
What do people forget to budget for?
Hotel nights in Labuan Bajo before and after, flights, crew tips, travel insurance and the park ticket at IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day. Pickup from Menjaga, Melo or Rangko is charged extra, and fins aren't provided, so bring your own.
Is the cheapest boat the right boat?
Not always. Bombana 1 has the lowest fare and takes up to 15. Bombana 2 costs more and has the master cabin, a water heater in every cabin, a canoe and a paddle board. The comparison page sets them side by side.
