Komodo sailing guides: worth it, seasickness, hiking and packing
Updated 23 October 2026
Four short guides for a Komodo sailing trip on Bombana 1 or Bombana 2: whether 3 days is worth it, what helps with seasickness, how the Padar, Komodo and Kelor trails compare, and what goes in the bag. Each ends with a checklist you can copy.
Read these four before you book
Most questions we get before a booking fall into four piles: whether three days is enough to bother with, whether you'll be sick, how hard the hikes are and what goes in the bag.
- Is a 3-day sailing trip worth it? says who the route suits and who should skip it.
- Seasickness on a sailing trip covers months, tablets and where to sit.
- Komodo Island hiking compares Padar, Komodo and Kelor.
- The packing list says what fits on a small boat.
They are here so you book the right trip.
What each guide answers
The cards below show the four guides side by side. Each takes a few minutes to read and ends with a short checklist you can copy into your phone, so you don't have to remember it.
They use the same facts as the rest of this site: the route, the park's rules and ratings, and the two boats. Where a detail depends on your date, the guide sends you to us.
You can also read the full FAQ for short answers on prices, park tickets and booking.

Anything the guides miss
Message us on WhatsApp with the date and the number of people, and say which guide raised your question. We read every message, and a small question now saves a big one at the jetty. Replies come from a booking team in Labuan Bajo, not a bot.
If your question is about a boat, ask about Bombana 1 or Bombana 2 by name. They are sisters, not twins, and the answers differ. If it's about the route, start with the 3-day route page, and if it's about money, start with the cabins and fares.
FAQ
Which guide should I read first if I'm unsure about booking?
Start with the 3-day worth-it guide. It lays out what the 9 stops cost you in effort and who should skip the trip, then points to the seasickness, hiking and packing guides if one of those is your real worry. Each takes about five minutes.
Are the guides written for Bombana 1 and Bombana 2 only?
Yes. They use the route of both boats and name the boat wherever a fact differs. Park and season facts are the park's own ratings and rules. Anything that depends on your date is sent back to us.
Do the guides replace talking to you before I pay?
No. They answer the common questions, and you still tell us your date and headcount before you pay a deposit. A guide cannot know your flight, your knees or your cabin choice, which is why every one of them ends with a checklist and an invitation to message us.
