From the Rail: notes from the two Bombanas
Updated 23 October 2026
From the Rail is the notes column for Bombana 1 and Bombana 2. Each entry holds one observed detail, stated flat, from a photo or a trip we know. Bombana 2 notes come first, and each note links to the boat it describes.
Newest from the rail
The newest notes sit below, most recent first. Each one is short, names the boat and says what we saw. Some are about a cabin, some about a stop on the route, and some about a thing we got wrong. For the longer answers, the guides and the FAQ go further.

What this column is
One entry, one detail. A bathtub beside a bed. A bowsprit over the water. A path at Padar that is steeper than any photo of it suggests, which is the sort of thing you only learn by walking it with a group at dawn. We state it flat and we say which boat it is.
Bombana 2 entries come first, and Bombana 1 entries follow as we add them. We don't write guest reviews here.
The booking team writes it, in Labuan Bajo. Corrections are welcome by WhatsApp.
